LANDING CRAFT, INFANTRY (LARGE)

Operational use: As an oceangoing infantry carrier for direct unloading on the beach. Although troop accommodations are provided, this space limits the practical operational time to 48 hours.

Capacity: 9 officers and 200 troops, or 75 tons cargo (oceangoing).

Dimensions: Length, 160'3¾'' o. a.  Beam, 23'3''.

Displacement: Loaded, 385 tons. - Landing, 257.5 tons. - Light, 209.2 ton.
Tons per inch immersion, 7.0 (loaded), 6.5 (landing).

Armament: Five 20 mm AA.

Armor: 10-lb. STS plating to splinter shields, pilothouse, and conning station.

Endurance: 8,000 miles @ 12 kts. and 110 tons fuel.

Speed: 15.5 kts. (max) @ 650 rpm and 45'' pitch, 14.5 kts. (cont.) @ 585 rpm and 45'' pitch.

Propulsion: 8 GM diesels (4 per shaft) with max. BHP 1600; twin variable pitch screws.

Fuel: 110 tons fuel, 240 gals. lube oil; 37 tons F.W.

Crew: 4 officers, 25 men.
