LANDING CRAFT, SUPPORT (LARGE) (MARK 3)

Operational use: To provide fire support for landing operations and to intercept and destroy inter-island barge traffic.

Description: 60 units now being converted from LCI (L) hulls, but entirely rearranged internally, as shown by the drawings. This craft may be beached.

Armament: One 3"/.50-cal. DP., two twin 40 mm MG., four 20 mm MG.

Dimensions: Length, 158'5''.  Beam, 23'3''.

Displacement: 227 tons (light), 349 tons (normal), 383 tons (full load)(est.).

Draft: For'd 4'6'',  aft. 5'10''.

Armor: 10 lb. splinter shields to gun positions.

Propulsion: 2 sets of G.M. Diesel engines, Model 6051, max. 1800 hp.

Fuel: 85 tons Diesel oil.

Crew: 5 officers, 68 enlisted men.
